The project
Since march of 2026 I'm creating a ttprg system and setting as a hobby. I was inspired by the hunter/gate manhwa subgenre that im quite fond of - even tho most of them are very mid - and for now I'm focussing on the actual mechanics of it, but in the future I want to spend more time on the lore and illustrations.
Don't take anything as "done", I'm constantly changing half the rules so nothing is sacred.
A special thanks to the ttrpg systems I'm ripping apart to create mine: Vagabond, Dagger Heart, Fabula Ultima, Blades in the Dark, Break!! RPG and of course Dungeons&Dragons 5e
What is Dungeon Rift
A ttrpg system and setting based on manhwas like Solo Leveling, The S ranks I raised and Enrolling in the Transcendent Academy. It's a setting where magic, in the form of [Essence], has returned to reality following the shattering of the ancient seal that had kept it contained it for millennia, bringing destruction and forcing society to adapt. This destruction manifests as [Fractures], rifts in space connecting to memories of the Old Era, a time when Essence was omnipresent and ordinary people could ascend to godhood.
Today, 150 years after the seal was broken, humanity has adapted to this new reality. It is no longer an age of panic; guilds are established institutions, the [Awakened] constitute a distinct professional class, and society has learned to coexist with Essence.
Players take on the role of [Hunters], individuals who have awakened superhuman powers and whose job is to seal these rifts in reality, thereby containing the spread of Essence into the world.
The system aims to adapt both the dungeon-crawling dynamics and the political intrigue common to this genre of storytelling.
